In a pivotal development set to accelerate the adoption of HPC in Europe, LuxProvide, guardian of MeluXina, Luxembourg's state-of-the-art supercomputer, and the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC), a leader in innovative HPC solutions and services, have entered in a strategic partnership. This alliance is aimed at bridging the transitional phase as ICHEC moves towards the decommissioning of its current platform and the establishment of a new, advanced HPC infrastructure with the support of the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EUROHPC JU).

Si la société se numérise, les défis environnementaux que nous devons relever, à commencer par l’urgence climatique, nous invitent à une utilisation plus rationnelle de la technologie. Les organisations en prennent de plus en plus conscience. Pour fonctionner, un environnement informatique a besoin d’électricité. Un apport en énergie non négligeable est aussi souvent nécessaire pour refroidir les infrastructures IT, dont l’utilisation dégage de la chaleur. Dans le contexte actuel, il est donc important d’envisager les leviers à notre disposition pour minimiser ce besoin en énergie. D’autant plus que cette démarche, si elle est bénéfique pour l’environnement, doit aussi permettre à l’entreprise de réduire ses coûts énergétiques et d’améliorer sa rentabilité.

The purpose of this project is to obtain an initial access during Red Team exercise by gaining code execution through the exploitation of a vulnerability.This first article describes the first steps of the exploit development regarding the CVE-2018-5093 explaining how to take advantage of the integer underflow vulnerability on Firefox 56&57 to control the instruction pointer when opening a specifically crafted web page.
