TN’Teens: Seeking Tomorrow's Digital Talents
Techsense team I 4:34 pm, 23rd February
TechSense announces the launch of TN’Teens, a new initiative pursuing the dual objective of promoting the new technologies sector to young people and bringing together industrial actors and digital talents of tomorrow. TN’Teens will take place on March 31, 2022 at Les Terres Rouges in Esch-sur-Alzette.
At the global level, 1 in 3 internet users is under 18 years of age and these children and adolescents are accessing the Internet at ever-earlier ages across a growing range of devices. They are spending more and more of their time online, browsing social media, playing games and using mobile apps, not to mention the great promises held by the soon-to-come metaverse revolution.
On the other hand, the European Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index shows that 4 out of 10 adults and every third worker in Europe lack basic digital skills. As a result, hiring expertise in information and communication technologies is a challenge for businesses in the European Union – and Luxembourg makes no exception. Our countries also face a shortage of digital experts who can develop cutting-edge technologies for the benefit of all.
Yet, it is clear that a strong digital economy powered by workers with digital skills is vital for innovation, growth, jobs, and competitiveness. The spread of digital technologies is having a massive impact on the labor market and the type of skills needed in the economy and in society. And these needs must be met – imperatively.
Resolving the Digital Contradiction
Ways must be found to facilitate, accompany and amplify the move from a recreational use of digital technology to an attractive career choice. These are the reasons why TechSense decided to create TN’Teens, a new event pursuing the dual objective of promoting the new technologies sector to young people and bringing together industrial actors and digital talents of tomorrow.
"We, TechSense, are determined to tackle the digital skills shortage by promoting greater involvement of young people in the areas of technology, innovation and digital", said Kamel Amroune, CEO of The Dots and founder of TechSense.
This first edition of TN’Teens will take place on March 31st, at Les Terres Rouges in Esch-sur-Alzette. The event will gather 150 young participants - high school and university students - for a day of challenges, learning and fun. The program will start with a morning of workshops dedicated to various technological concepts – including coding, design thinking, blockchain and cybersecurity - followed by a moment of recreation and interaction during the lunch offered in the exhibition space. The event will continue with a big quiz game culminating in a final round where the contestants will be mentored by a figure from the Luxembourg technology community.
TN’Teens benefits from the support of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.
