The future of healthcare: upcoming must-attend events in and from Luxembourg

Luxembourg’s healthtech scene is rapidly growing with advancements in AI-driven platforms, digital health solutions, and digital medical devices. The national innovation agency is actively supporting companies with all key resources they need to scale their innovative solutions and expand their reach.


As part of the Healthcare Week Luxembourg (HWL) from 1-2 October 2024, Luxinnovation, an institutional partner of this leading event, will be co-exhibiting with Luxembourg companies offering cutting-edge healthtech solutions.

HWL is a crucial platform for both emerging and established health professionals and companies in the Greater Region and beyond. The event is expected to attract over 2,500 participants, 100 exhibitors, and 150 expert speakers, all aiming to foster progress in the health industry and enhance patient care across Europe.


Co-exhibitors at the HWL: Stand C15

“Sharing a stand at the Healthcare Week Luxembourg 2024 will promote synergies and visibility for local healthtech solutions and encourage collaboration among various stakeholders,” says Arie Jean-Philippe, Cluster Manager – Healthtech at Luxinnovation. The national innovation agency will co-exhibit at stand C15 with 11 companies, including:


AkknaTek: provides innovative solutions for ophthalmology, with a focus on cataract surgery.

Arspectra: a medtech company and global pioneer in the development of medical Augmented Reality glasses and solutions for a wide range of healthcare applications.

DataSpace4Health: project aimed at revolutionising secure and compliant health data exchange in Luxembourg and beyond. Cofinanced by the Ministry of the Economy, it is based on a collaboration between NTT DATA, Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, Luxembourg Institute of Health, the University of Luxembourg, Agence eSanté, and Luxembourg National Data Service.

ExoAtlet: exoRehabilitation specialist providing recovery devices, i.e. wearable exoskeletons for children and adults, and assistive robotic tools for industry workers and elderly people.

HE:AL Campus: an accelerator and living lab dedicated to the growth of healthtech startups and companies, focusing on diagnostics, preventative medicine, data-driven therapies, and serving as a platform for mature eHealth companies specialising in digital health, AI, deep learning, and predictive analytics.

IEE: specialist in intelligent sensing solutions for various applications, including automotive, building, and smart health solutions.

ITTM: startup company specialised in data integration and knowledge management in the life sciences and healthcare market. It offers solutions for improved data quality, mapping to data models, system integration and process optimisation.

MDSIM: startup active in in-silico medicine (use of computer simulations and modelling, combined with AI and data sciences to improve health outcomes).

Rotarex: a global company that designs and manufactures high-quality gas control products and systems. Its medical range notably includes medical VIPR valves with built-in pressure regulators for oxygen cylinders.

Tuomi: a leader in customised software development and IT services, successfully developing software for medical devices that meet the highest standards since 2017.


MEDICA trade fair

From 11 to 14 November 2024, MEDICA, the world's largest medical trade fair, will once again gather international experts from the medical industry in Düsseldorf, Germany. The trade fair attracts over 5,300 exhibitors and 80,000 professional visitors annually, showcasing innovative products and services in medical imaging, laboratory technology, diagnostics, health IT, mobile health, physiotherapy technology, medical consumables, and more.


This year, different companies will exhibit at the prestigious national pavilion, organised by the Luxembourg Trade and Invest partners. In addition, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Luxinnovation, will organise a visit to the fair on 12 November 2024. Companies intending to be part of this delegation can register before 18 October 2024. It is an ideal occasion to make new international and national contacts.


Luxembourg Healthtech Cluster Matchmaking breakfast

The national innovation agency organises the Luxembourg Healthtech Cluster Matchmaking breakfast annually, aiming to facilitate networking and collaboration between stakeholders in the ecosystem. It is scheduled for 5 December 2024. For another year-round, a B2B matchmaking tool will be available in October 2024 for participants to book meetings with entities they wish to meet.


“Encouraging synergies between healthcare professionals, researchers, and tech innovators in Luxembourg supports a fertile environment ripe for groundbreaking solutions,” adds Mr Arie. “Collaborative efforts among these stakeholders have the potential to drive the development of state-of-the-art health technologies improving patient outcomes and operational efficiencies within the healthcare system.”


European Digital HealthTech Conference

Organised by Luxinnovation, and its partners, the European Digital HealthTech Conference in Luxembourg is a unique European event dedicated to exploring various facets of supporting digital medical technologies from incubation to market entry. “The first edition in 2023 focused on identifying existing barriers hindering the uptake of innovations in the European market and exploring available solutions. We thoroughly examined all kinds of regional support available for digital medical devices. The 2024 edition expanded the invitation to the entire ecosystem, encouraging best practice sharing among innovative companies, investors, accelerators, and more. The 2025 edition will further broaden its scope to reinforce support for these innovative companies, which are central to the future of healthcare,” concludes Mr Arie.


The conference is scheduled to take place on 25 March 2025, and pre-registration is open.
