SCROBLE is the world’s first user centric retail platform that delivers an unprecedented customer journey creating a seamless phygital experience that builds brand loyalty through immersion, interaction and immediate gratification. We met Anna Salewski, Founder & CEO, who told us about her project.
What can you tell us and about SCROBLE, and about you?
I have an entrepreneurial soul. After working in the banking and financial sector, I have just felt confirmed to create and grow only my businesses. I have studied economy and international tax law and was also working in this field after having my own advisory company in Luxembourg since 2009. Next to it, I have also co-created, managed, and sold other projects, that were mostly connected to real estate. I was dealing with many different business models trying to shape new solutions for different businesses. Creativity has always led me to an unusual path and helped me to gain traction and to sell the projects with success. I would say about myself that I am a passionate out of the box thinker.
SCROBLE was born out of questions I have asked myself: “why can't we use the mobile phone to interact with products anywhere, also in city retail”? “why can’t we scan the products to save the information on the phone?”, “why can't we know what is available in-store before we visit it?”,” why can't we learn more about the product instantly including how we can combine them?”, “why can't we instantly communicate about particular products having the full traction of it and being always able to find them back without any effort?” and “why do I always need to decide between online and in-store shopping, why can't we just have a seamless shopping journey focused on the consumer's needs?”.
All these questions appeared so exciting and relevant to me that I have spent some time on making my research and bringing the answers to this question in the context of a real technology named SCROBLE. SCROBLE solves all these issues in a very new and disruptive way.
Where did this idea come from and how did you come up with this project?
Being a creative mind, I have always a lot of ideas. And, of course, I can never realize them all. But with SCROBLE it was a very clear vision of how these problems can be solved in form of technology and the goal appeared to be ambitious enough to start this journey.
All the questions mentioned above came to my mind at quite the same time point - I had a super busy life and had no time for shopping for a while, but I was traveling a lot and, in my spare time, I always wondered about bypassing the stores: "why I can't use my 15 minutes just to grab a digital copy of everything I find nice". Additionally, I have discovered how many problems toward sustainability there are in the fashion and retail business, so it appeared to be even more important to realize SCROBLE, because technology also helps to solve many of them.
You mentioned the physical-digital convergence in the retail world. What do you mean exactly?
SCROBLE’s core concept of solving all the above-mentioned problems in retail and fashion relies on capabilities and technological advancement which enable to close the gap between online and in-store shopping. We call it “phygital” - a merger of both shopping journeys as we know them - normal physical shopping and online shopping. For the first time, people using our technology (our open beta in Luxembourg for the moment) can use their mobile phones and SCROBLE app in participating stores worldwide. they can physically experience the product and, using our application, they can just scan SCROBLE code attached to a product, save it on the phone, share it with friends, instantly learn about it, and soon also communicate with friends. Also, by saving a digital copy of the product on the phone, the user is never losing track of this particular item and can return to shopping at the most convenient time point, can learn about the brand and entire collection, and start connecting with peers with similar interests.
This is a different perspective on retail itself, not only because we enter a user-centric digital experience within normal physical retail, but especially because we eliminate instantly the gap between “online shopping” and “in-store shopping”. In our interpretation, this blended new reality in retail is phygital shopping.
You are organizing an event on April 7. What should we expect?
We decided to organize the FASHIONABLE TECH & COMEDY NIGHT and meet our community of early adopters here in Luxembourg to explain more about the SCROBLE concept, especially why our technology is fundamentally changing the fashion business model and will globally influence sustainability. We will introduce our ambassador program and the upcoming features. It appeared interesting for us also to talk about technology in fashion from totally different angles by welcoming different partners including our honor guests Tessy Antony De Nassau and Fonny Bunjamin who will talk also about NFT and 3D design. We are looking forward also to connecting in person and celebrating again the freedom of gathering together.
