Proximus NXT I 2:10 pm, 17th April
As announced today by the European Commission upon the publication of the results of its Cloud III tender, Proximus NXT is proud to have been selected, alongside three other suppliers, as part of a six-year framework agreement to deliver sovereign cloud services to European institutions and agencies. Through this framework contract, Proximus is positioned as a cloud provider for the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, the European External Action Service (EEAS) and 70 European agencies, supporting their critical needs for secure, compliant and sovereign digital infrastructure.
A European Sovereign Cloud built with trusted local partners
The solution delivers a Proximus Cloud Continuum: a fully sovereign cloud environment, ensuring European legal control, data residency, and minimal dependency on non-European actors. Supported by a Sovereign Operating Model, this ensures strategic autonomy and technological self-sovereignty, with integrated and coordinated global and local innovation under strong European governance to advance Europe’s digital ambitions.
The solution combines cloud sovereignty, advanced security and European AI, relying on a strong ecosystem of European partners and technologies, driven by Proximus:
• Proximus and Proximus NXT in Belgium and Luxembourg, leveraging their experience as a trusted telecom and ICT partner for public institutions
• S3NS, the trusted sovereign cloud platform certified to the highest European security standards
• Clarence, the result of the joint venture between Proximus and LuxConnect, providing a fully disconnected, air?gapped sovereign edge cloud with physical containment, local control, and high resilience
• Mistral AI delivering cutting-edge European AI capabilities on sovereign cloud platforms
• Thales, contributing high assurance security architecture and cybersecurity threat intelligence.
Supporting Europe’s digital sovereignty ambitions and a Safety-First Approach to AI
Sovereignty, security and trust are becoming core requirements for European institutions, across cloud, data, artificial intelligence and edge. By selecting Proximus and its European partner ecosystem, the European institutions acknowledge a mature solution combining sovereign cloud, cybersecurity, European AI, and local operations.
The solution enables sovereign hybrid architectures for secure access under European governance and control. A strong signal of credibility for Proximus and commitment to Europe’s Digital Future.
This selection further strengthens Proximus’ position as a trusted partner for critical public sector and institutional projects, following previous engagements in the areas of defense, cybersecurity and international institutions.
This framework agreement represents a major step towards European digital autonomy, providing a secure, scalable, interoperable, and resilient foundation tailored to Europe’s regulatory needs. It also serves as a reference model for public authorities across Europe, many of which are aligning their own cloud requirements with criteria defined at European level.
Gérard Hoffmann, CEO Proximus Luxembourg: “European institutions require the highest levels of security, sovereignty and reliability. This selection confirms Proximus’ ability to deliver sovereign cloud solutions built on European services and operated by trusted local partners. By combining cloud, cybersecurity and European AI, we support public institutions in their digital transformation while preserving full control over their data and infrastructure.”
